Educational Psychology

At JSA, we are pleased to be able to offer an independent Educational Psychology service.  This service provides users with access to a fully independent and chartered Educational Psychologist, who can act upon instruction directly from the school.  Schools all have access to Educational Psychologists as part of the offer from their Local Authorities, but we are here to provide a fully independent service should the school in question require a second opinion for any reason.    

The work of our Educational Psychologist involves the provision of assessments of cognitive abilities and social development within children and young people in the school environment.   As qualified and experienced practitioners, they can look for – and at – a full range of barriers to learning that children and young people may face, such as challenges including dyslexia, ADHD and ASD.  They identify learning difficulties and provide advice, support and guidance for helping the child and their support network to be supported educationally and socially within their school life.  They will observe and assess, and will advise and signpost accordingly.  This service is often of great support for schools who wish for their students to be assessed in a timely manner and without preconception or bias.
